Boutinot Soleil Couchant Saint-Amour 2021

Best poured slightly chilled, this silky soft red has aromas of red berries backed by tangy liquorice and a touch of spices like white pepper that give it a nice lingering complexity. Saint-Amour gets its name from Amor, a Roman Legionnaire who took refuge in the area after refusing to fight the Christians. Its soils are a mix of clay, granite and schist, making for both light, floral, fruity wines and more powerful complex ones with ageing potential.
