Nothing says desert campaign like a proper coat of pale dust, and Africa Dust Effects lays it down convincingly straight from the jar. This light-tan enamel builds up the dusty accumulations you'd expect on Afrika Korps, British 8th Army and even modern desert-deployed vehicles.

• Building light, powdery deposits over a base coat

Brush or airbrush it on, then knock it back with a clean brush dampened in enamel thinner until the dust settles just where gravity and wind would actually put it.
