Wood Base is a warm, natural mid-brown base tone for painting wood — the foundation for planking, decks, crates, stocks and stowage, ready to be grained and highlighted. AK's high-pigment 3rd Generation acrylic lays it down matt and smooth by brush or airbrush.

Best for

• Base coat for wooden decks, crates and stocks
• A ground for grain, washes and highlights

Base it smooth, add grain with a darker brown and a wash, then highlight towards tan. Thin it for airbrush work; its matt finish takes washes a treat.
