RLM 63 is one of those shades that separates a passable Luftwaffe build from one that actually looks right — a pale early-war grey used on the undersides and, later, the upper surfaces of German aircraft through WWII. AK's 3rd Generation acrylic formula lays down smooth and consistent straight from the pot, whether you're loading a brush for panel work or thinning it for the airbrush. If you're building anything from a Bf 109 to a Ju 88 and want the colour spot-on rather than "close enough", this is the pot to reach for.

Best for

  • Luftwaffe WWII aircraft builds needing an accurate RLM 63 grey
  • Undersides, mottling and upper-surface work across the popular scales
  • Brush painting detail work or thinning down for smooth airbrush coats
  • Building up a historically correct RLM colour set alongside 71, 70 and 65

Get the base colour right and everything you layer on top — panel shading, chipping, weathering — reads the way it should.

Straightforward stuff: it's an accurate acrylic in the right tin, nothing more, nothing less. Pair it with RLM 71 for a full upper-surface scheme, or pick up one of the Inks for a post-shade once the base coat's cured — browse the rest of the acrylic paint range.
