The Putnams Rest-a-Head is an adjustable armchair headrest cushion for extra comfort while reading, watching TV or resting in a high-backed chair. A weighted counterbalance strap hangs over the chair back, so the cushion can be moved up or down without permanent fixings.

Check your chair before ordering

Your chair needs a back high enough to support the cushion at your head or neck, with space for the strap to pass over the top and hang behind it. High-backed armchairs and recliners are the intended starting point; a low-backed sofa or unusually thick chair back may not let it sit where you want it. Fit is not universal.

The cushion measures approximately 35 × 17 × 12 cm. Compare this with your chair and preferred resting position. If unsure, send our team your chair model and dimensions before ordering.

How to position the headrest

Drape the weighted strap over the chair back, with the cushion facing the seat and the counterbalance hanging behind.
Sit in your usual position, then slide the cushion up or down until it meets your head or neck comfortably.
Check the position again if you recline or move the chair. Make sure the strap hangs freely and stays clear of moving parts.

Adjust the amount of filling

The cushion combines foam side supports with a fibre core. Unzip the cover and follow Putnams’ instructions for adjusting the inner fibre. Start by rearranging or unwinding a small amount and check the feel before making further changes. Trimming fibre is permanent, so do not cut it simply to test a position.
