EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) 900 microns thick, and approximately 1.1kg per sqm, is a flexible, durable, and highly weather-resistant synthetic rubber material used to line ponds, water features, and other aquatic installations.
Here are the key features and benefits of EPDM pond liners: Features of EPDM Pond Liner: Flexible & Stretchable - Can easily conform to irregular pond shapes, curves, and slopes. Durable & Long-lasting - Has an average lifespan of 20-50 years, depending on maintenance and environmental conditions. UV & Ozone Resistant - Does not degrade under prolonged sunlight exposure. Fish & Plant Safe - Non-toxic and does not leach harmful chemicals into the water. Puncture & Tear Resistant - Can withstand small punctures and minor ground movement. Temperature Resistant - Performs well in extreme heat and cold without cracking or becoming brittle. Easy to Repair - Small tears or punctures can be patched without replacing the entire liner. Advantages of EPDM Over Other Pond Liners: Compared to PVC: More flexible, longer lifespan, and contains no plasticizers that can degrade over time. Compared to HDPE & RPE: More flexible but slightly heavier, making it easier to install for custom-shaped ponds. Common Uses: Garden ponds Koi ponds Wildlife ponds Waterfalls and fountains Reservoirs and retention basins Installation Tips: Use an Underlayment: Helps protect the liner from sharp objects and root penetration. Overlap Seams Properly: If joining multiple sheets, use EPDM seam tape and adhesive. Ensure Proper Slope: Prevents water stagnation and supports drainage.
Please note, all liners are made up from sheets securely heat welded together.
Important information about unfolding the EPDM PONDLINER:
The EPDM PONDLINER is folded at the factory to make transport easier. During long storage, and under pressure inside the packaging, the layers may stick together, so separating them can take a little more force. This is a normal characteristic of the material, not a product defect.
How to unfold the EPDM PONDLINER correctly: Before unfolding, leave the EPDM PONDLINER at room temperature (approx. 20 °C) for a few hours, especially if it has been transported in cold conditions. Cold EPDM PONDLINER is stiffer and harder to separate. Separate the layers slowly and evenly, starting from a corner or edge. Do not pull sharply. Do not use knives or other sharp tools to separate the layers.
White residue after unfolding: Where the layers were in contact, a white or matt residue may appear. It comes from processing aids used during manufacture of the EPDM PONDLINER. It is not damage to the material and does not affect the EPDM PONDLINER’s tightness, strength or durability. You can remove it with a soft, damp cloth.
When to contact us:
If the film has tears, punctures, holes or cracks on arrival. The sticking of layers and the white residue described above are not defects. This does not affect your statutory rights.
