AK Interactive 3rd Gen Acrylic - Visceral Effects (AK11261)

Some effects only work if they look genuinely unpleasant, and Visceral Effects is squarely in that camp. It's a deep, dark red — the colour of fresh blood and exposed meat — with a glossy, wet finish that catches the light exactly the way a real wound would. Brush it into torn flesh, open jaws and battlefield gore and the model stops looking painted and starts looking hurt.

• Fresh wounds, cuts and exposed flesh on figures
• Gore, guts and viscera on monsters and beasts
• Bloodied blades, claws and teeth
• Grisly detail on dioramas and bases

Work it over a base colour rather than straight onto bare plastic — laid over a mid red or a pale flesh tone it gains real depth, and a little restraint goes a long way. A few well-placed drips read as far more convincing than a model drenched head to toe.
